- Actually, it is possible to select either ph0 or ph1 as the DATA line, but
- not both concurrently.

- The on board modem's parameters can be controlled by the program /etc/phupd.
- It is not very user friendly, and may require a "stty sane ^J" if the args
- are not typed in exactly or if run from a non-console terminal.

- The form of the command, which must be executed by root and apparently also
- from the console (or it drops a core), is:

- /etc/phupd PHx MODE TT KS MS

- PHx is the /dev entry, either ph0 or ph1
- MODE is either DATA or VOICE
- TT means touch-tone (as opposed to dial-pulse): YES or NO
- KS is YES or NO
- MS is YES or NO

- Don't ask me what the last two arguments do. I leave them NO.

- I execute /etc/phupd to set up the modem during the /etc/rc initialization
- phase at boot time and have never found a need to touch it after that.
