  28. Well, yes, in the absence of MIME headers, it is difficult to tell how
  29. the contents of the message are encoded.  (But if people really wanted
  30. to, they could treat the

  36.     Content-Type: text/plain; charset=viet

  38. or whatever, and similarly for the other encodings that I mentioned.

  41. In other words, MIME headers definitely get my Yes vote.

  44. we all had the same opinion, but I'm not sure that that's the case.

  46. Also, once people put in a lot of work to support what you're calling
  47. "interim formats", people may not be willing to change things yet
  48. again after that.  The old "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" attitude
  49. may then rear it's ugly head.

  51. The fully anticipated reply to this is of course that we should then
  52. skip these interim formats and go straight to nirvana.
