- After some poking around it seems the cause is explained in the fcntl(2)
- man page:

- The asynchronous I/O facilities of FNDELAY and FASYNC are
- currently available only for tty operations.

- Is there a work-around? Fixing Dynix really isn't an option as Sequent
- is no longer developing it in favor of Dynix/ptx. We do have a source
- license if a kernel fix is the only way to go.
