  13. After some poking around it seems the cause is explained in the fcntl(2)

  17.      The asynchronous I/O facilities of FNDELAY and FASYNC are
  18.      currently available only for tty operations.

  20. Is there a work-around?  Fixing Dynix really isn't an option as Sequent
  21. is no longer developing it in favor of Dynix/ptx.  We do have a source
  22. license if a kernel fix is the only way to go.
