- I have two IBM clones (an epson and AMI 386SX) that do not load the 3C503
- Clarkson Driver. Both machines 3C503 have been tested and work fine with
- Lan Manager using DISABLE for the shared memory jumper. When I set the
- jumper to any other shared memory jumper, Lan Manager stops working and
- installing the 3C503 driver using:
-
- 3c503 0x7e 5 0x300 1
-
- I get the following error message:
-
- Packet driver for 3-Com 3C503, version 9.4.0
- Portions Copyright 1989, Robert C. Clements, K1BC
- Packet driver skeleton copyright 1988-91, Russell Nelson.
- This program is free software; see the file COPYING for details.

-
- Packet driver is at segment 37BD
- Using 80[123]86 I/O instructions.
- Shared RAM on 3C503 card is defective or there is an address conflict.
- Interrupt number 0x5 (5)
- I/O port 0x300 (768)
- Using the built-in transceiver (thinwire)
- My Ethernet address is 02:60:8C:4C:FC:57
-
- The 3C503 board works fine with the driver in another machine. So, I'm assuming
- the problem is with "there is an address conflict" but don't know how to fix
- it. Is there a solution or explanation why this doesn't work?
-
- Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
-
- Thanks,
