- Got a problem here at work. We have an original Mac II 5/40 with a Radius
- 21 inch 8 bit color card installed. I put in an Apple Ethernet NB card with a
- thin-net transceiver, which is connected to our local network and the internet.
- An EtherPrint is connected to our local network, allowing this mac, and three
- others to access our LaserWriter IINTX on LocalTalk. The three other macs work
- fine, but the Mac II is acting up.
-
- Now, after I installed System 7.0 on the Mac II, when I try to activate
- AppleTalk from the chooser, it give me the AppleTalk could not be opened error.
- I tried reinstalled the system, 7.0, 7.0.1 and even 7.1, but I still have the
- same problems. Taking out the ethernet card and trying to use LocalTalk still
- produces the same error. I can't switch to EtherTalk since AppleTalk must be
- activated before the Network control panel will open.
-
- I have never had any problems with the other macs, a IIx, IIsi and IIcx. Could
- it be the II or even it's pram? The IIx has the same Apple Ethernet NB card and
- the other two have the Asante thin/thick/10Base-T cards in them.
-
- Any help would be greatly appreciated!
-
- Thanks!
