  13. I am a novice to CAP. I got CAP 6.0, patch level 125, and I want to
  14. install it on a SGI 4D35 running IRIX 4.0.2. If I understand the documentation
  15. correctly, I can use the UAB mechanism to make my SGI speak EtherTalk phase 1
  16. directly without having to have a Shive Fastpath or something similiar. If
  17. that's wrong, forget about the rest of my posting and correct me.

  19. We have a non-extended EtherTalk phase 2 network with net number 130-130,
  20. named "MinGeo EtherTalk". The ethernet controller interface is called ec0
  21. on my SGI, which is named "perm.geologie.uni-freiburg.de". Therefore, I 
  22. constructed the following bridge_desc entry:

  29. Now, "getzones" will only report the "MinGeo EtherTalk" zone and
  30. not about the other zones on the net. atlook will only report about the CAP
  31. server programs that I start on my SGI but not about other AppleTalk entities
  32. on the net. It seems that I have a AppleTalk network that is restricted to 
  33. the SGI itsself. Of course, the SGI won't come up on the Chooser of the Macs.
  34. The /etc/etalk.local file that uab writes looks like this:
