- I'm not an IBM, nor do I play on on tv.
-
- I have no expertise in corporate financing or decision-making, but I was
- mightily disturbed to hear this bad news about IBM and to read that
- Akers (prez?) won't rule out further cuts/layoffs next year, since he
- doen not think the economy (report didn't specify if he meant US or
- worldwide) will improve in 1993.
-
- OTOH, I did read that they will be reducing research and development of
- mainframes and concentrating more on PC software. So I assume that this
- means that OS/2 will continue to be supported (perhaps even more
- vigorously supported and marketed). In fact, for OS/2, this may be
- something of a blessing. If they now see their future tied more closely
- to OS's and other software, they might really get their act together.
-
- I'm a Windows user (who tried OS/2 2.0), but that doesn't mean I don't
- want OS/2 to improve to the point where it can win me over or that I
- want it to fail.
