- Had this very problem this week with two machines. The problem is with the
- DISPLAY.DLL from your beta TSENG drivers. These drivers are for the 16-bit
- GRE architecture. With the 32-bit GRE in the Service Pack, functions have
- been split out into two new DLLs, and DISPLAY.DLL is now a MUCH smaller file.
-
- Solution: We have installed DISPLAY.DLL into a separate directory, and had
- put that directory path into LIBPATH in front of C:\OS2\DLL. Edit CONFIG.SYS
- to remove this path from LIBPATH (i.e. C:\MYDISPLAY or equivalent is no longer
- in LIBPATH), save the file, shutdown and re-boot. The machine will come back
- up in 640x480 mode. If this is not what you want, in OS/2 System->System Setup
- select Selective Install. Select the box for Primary Display (even though it
- already says Super VGA), and select Super VGA on the next screen. You will
- then be asked to insert the GA disks (6-15 for 3 1/2 media). This will NOT
- take long, all that gets read are some font files. It will then ask for the
- Display Adapter disks from the service pack, run SVGA ON to determine modes
- supported by the card, and ask you which resolution you want. Files will be
- copied to the disk, and the procedure ends. Shutdown and re-boot to get the
- new screen characteristics.
