- I installed the recent ATI Ultra that I had taken from the OS/2
- Shareware BBS, which claimed to have just got it from ATI. I assume
- this is the same. This is for OS/2 2.0 GA release. You first
- setup OS/2 for VGA, not 8514, and then run a short install program
- that installs drivers and alters config.sys, also allowing you to
- select resolutions up to 1024x768. I chose 1024x768 because it allows
- me to get even tinier text than the 8514 mode. So now there is a little
- more room on my desktop. It doesn't seem to be any faster or better in
- any way than the 8514 mode from GA install.
-
- I installed the ATI driver because I though it would give me
- seamless windows. It didn't. If it should have, then someone please
- let me know. My full-screen win/os-2 drivers had to be reset again
- for 8514 because after the ATI install it had been set to VGA.
-
- Summary: If you have a big screen and want all your text and icons to
- get a little smaller (more/smaller stuff on your screen), then use
- the new ATI drivers--but they're nothing to write home about.
