- HELP!!
-
- I'm being held hostage by an ATI Graphics Ultra +! I'm using an NEC 4FG
- and I've tried to use the PM driver that comes with the ATI card. Actually,
- I've tried to use BOTH the 640x480 and the 800x600 drivers. Both cause the
- system to die as the STARTUP.CMD file is being executed.
-
- Since the card's install program does not show an NEC 4FG, I selected the
- 'custom' option for the monitor. I told it it could use 640x480 72Hz,
- 800x600 72Hz, and 1024x768 87Hz (8514). On bootup without their driver, I get
- 2 1/2 mini-desktops on the screen, very fuzzy and unuseable. BUT, I went
- ahead and put the full screen DOS box prompt in the middle of the desktop so
- I was able to get to it and become 1 unified desktop!
-
- When I tried to do an SVGA ON, all I got was snow on bootup. Thanks goodness
- for SHIFTRUN; I was able to run SVGA OFF and delete the SVGADATA.PMI file and
- return to whence I'd come.
-
- I just saw the file ATIULTRA.ZIP on hobbes and I grabbed it. But, before I
- go through the pain of trying it, can anyone tell me if they have successfully
- installed these drivers OR the ATI drivers????
-
- If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
