- i have installed DASHBOARD by HP on my gateway 2000 (80486 @ 33 MHz). i
- have decided to use dashboard as my shell instead of program manager. however,
- i have found that dashboard is extremely buggy.
-
- (1) i get an average of two GPFs everyday. the cause is alway dashboard
- and the kernel conflicting. also,
-
- (2) the clock does not work if it is in analog mode. it only works in digital.
-
- (3) the fuel gage does not work. there is no line drawing as memory is being
- consumed. (i have 8 MB plus a 4 MB permanent swap).
-
- (4) in the pulldown menus for groups, it fails to recognize the applications
- if they are not on the path.
-
- (5) occassionaly, it will screw up my soundblaster when i play one of the
- package sounds. it continues to play the sound through my speakers until
- i hit the reset button.
-
- WEIRDNESS : i know of a person who uses an HP VECTRA and dashboard an he thinks
- i am crazy because he does not see these problems. that is, it
- was probably created on an HP VECTRA and not really tested with
- a host of hardware configurations.
-
- does anyone know of a patch or an update to dashboard. i think this would
- be a fab. product if they can get the bugs out.
-
- thank you.
