- As a software developer, I have a slightly different perspective on
- this. I too hate copy protection, but we found that it is essential.
- We have used a dongle on our package (a raster-to-vector conversion
- package, selling for about $2000). We apologize to our users for this
- in the documentation.

- However, we have been told by every distributor that we have signed
- up that they would not carry the product if we did not have this
- protection. The dealers are not willing to carry products without
- it. It is extremely difficult to locate good distributors for such
- software, and we cannot afford to do anything which would cause them
- to reject or under-sell the product for any avoidable reason.
