  17.     Occasionally, when I exit an application, and I type CD \ to
  18. get back to the root directory, I get the error message "Invalid
  19. Directory."  Also, when I try to do some directory listings, such as
  20. DIR /W I get Invalid switch - /w sometimes the error will just be
  21. garbage which may or may not include file names and lots of other
  22. wonderful characters.
  23.     I have DOS 5.0 on a PS/2 Mod 80 running with Token Ring
  24. drivers installed.  I am not running any compression programs such as
  25. Stacker.  I do have SmartDrive, but I've turned this off and still get
  26. it occasionally.
  27.     Any hints or suggestions?  Please email me directly if
  28. possible since it will be easier for me to read your responses, etc.
