- Summary: how do I set up a both way modem?
- Keywords: modem getty gettydefs
-
- Greetings, all:
-
- I'd appreciate help from anyone who can tell me what I have to do to get
- a bidirectional modem working on tty2. I have ttys setup to provide getty
- on tty2. When I call the modem from another line it answers OK, but
- fails to "switch thru", so to speak, and MINIX remains unmoved. ps -axl
- shows nothing happening other than a process on tty2 - a process with no
- program name.......???
-
- I suspect the problem may lie in gettydefs, but nowhere in the literature
- I have can I find any indication of how this should be set up. At present
- all the entries are of the form "default# SANE B9600# SANE B9600#login:",
- but where one entry starts and ends is more than I can tell.
-
- I had no trouble setting up the modem (a locally made job [Avtek], V.22,
- V.22bis, MNP1-4, V.42bis) to dial out using Mike van Smoorenberg's
- "minicom" program (thanks again, Mike), but now want to use it both ways.
-
- Thanks, folks...
