  32. I too am having problems with 0.99 and xdm.

  34. xdm starts, and I get the login prompt, but can't log in.  Most of the keys
  35. work, but a few (like 'r', 'RETURN', and some others) don't function.  I also
  36. get this incessant beeping with every keystroke.  startx also works okay for
  37. me, it's just xdm with the problem.

  39. I'm using the X8514 server, and the rest of the X stuff is from the 0.98 SLS
  40. release.  I have had similar problems in the past when I tried to get xdm to
  41. start at bootup (I put a call to xdm in my /etc/rc.local file) , but I was too
  42. incompetent to get it to work--I think it had something to do with there not
  43. being a tty to connect to, because xdm worked fine when I started it from the
  44. command line.
