- I too am having problems with 0.99 and xdm.
-
- xdm starts, and I get the login prompt, but can't log in. Most of the keys
- work, but a few (like 'r', 'RETURN', and some others) don't function. I also
- get this incessant beeping with every keystroke. startx also works okay for
- me, it's just xdm with the problem.
-
- I'm using the X8514 server, and the rest of the X stuff is from the 0.98 SLS
- release. I have had similar problems in the past when I tried to get xdm to
- start at bootup (I put a call to xdm in my /etc/rc.local file) , but I was too
- incompetent to get it to work--I think it had something to do with there not
- being a tty to connect to, because xdm worked fine when I started it from the
- command line.
-
- Help would be appreciated.
