- I've seen a few announcements posted to comp.os.linux
- that wern't crossposted to comp.os.linux.announce. Unless
- there are objections, I'd like to just snarf these articles
- and repost them to c.o.l.a as I run across them. If the new
- group is going to work, we need to get the announcements into
- it. Agreed?
-
- We're also contemplating splitting comp.os.linux and
- comp.os.linux.announce completely, to reduce bandwidth (since
- currently I crosspost everything from c.o.l.a to c.o.l as well).
- I've been assured that there IS a Fidonet gateway that can be
- used for comp.os.linux.announce, and all that it would require
- would be to configure it and make it available, so the
- Fidonet people wouldn't get duped.
-
- Any suggestions or comments about these things? If we don't
- crosspost everything between c.o.l.a and c.o.l, it would save
- a lot of bandwidth and diskspace for those systems that are
- tight on diskspace. And since there is apparently an easy way
- for Fidonet to pick up the new group, I think it's an okay
- idea. Of course we'd wait until comp.os.linux.announce
- propagates more completely.
-
- Thanks,
- mdw
