- As I understood Syd Weinstein's suggestion, it was to comment out the code
- that removes the temporary file, which would prevent deleting it under any
- circumstances. If what he recommended would prevent the call to that routine
- upon carrier loss, then my second objection (namely, that all users would
- need to rm $tmpdir/snd.* manually) was in error and I must withdraw it.

- My first objection -- that it is an administrator-level remedy and I have to
- get someone else to find the code, comment it out, and recompile -- still
- stands. Any effort that ddsw1's owner can put into my problem should be
- channeled toward curing the hangups in the first place.

- One thing I might do is to change that editor-substitute script so that the
- extra link to $tmpdir/snd.$$ in $safedir is rm'ed except on hangup. I need
- to study more about signal traps before I attempt that.
