  14. I am running OS/2 2.0, so am very interested in a high-speed modem with a
  15. 16550AFN UART.  I have been told that the AFN is important, as it denotes
  16. some bug fixes that were made.  One of the modems I am considering is the
  17. Zoom v.32bis with FAX.  I had an opportunity to examine one recently, and it
  18. uses a Startech ST16C550CJ UART.  The specs on the back of the box just
  19. list it as a 16550.  I presume the first C just denotes it as a CMOS chip,
  20. but what about the CJ?

  22. My main question is whether this includes all the fixes that
  23. were incorporated into the 16550AFN and whether this clone(?) UART will
  24. function as well as the original.

  26. Is anyone aware of a comparable modem (internal, v.32bis, FAX, $200-@250 
  27. street price) with a true 16550AFN?
