I have the same problem with my modem (Zoom 14.4 V.32bis NOT a faxmodem).
Obviously, there is some problem with their implementation of V.22bis. At
one point, I had two modems on the m-board; one 2400 and the Zoom.
Several times, I called with my Zoom (a 2400 bps connection), and received
the same pathetic garbage that you got. Called back on the 2400 and all was
clear, so it was obviously not a line noise problem. It is not a 'lemon'.
Apparantly, MANY of the Zoom V.32bis types have this problem. I think Zoom
is just trying to duck the problem. Any other comments?
