  12. I have a USR Sportster 14.4 modem with the 4.1 version rom.  By poking
  13. certian memory locations, I can make it a 16.8 baud modem (or so I have
  14. be told).  Problem - when I connect to a friends modem (same modem setup)
  15. , the best cps that we se is 1600 cps.  I would think that with both
  16. modems set to the 16.8 speed, we should see a higher through-put.
  17. I dont recall the exact modem settings (its at home) but &k1 is set
  18. &b1 is also set.  The buad speed is locked at 57.6 via the comm 
  19. software.  Has anyone gotten a higher cps with this type of setup?
  20. and if so, how?
