- At the risk of further inflaming Mervyn, I have had no trouble
- copying things from blocked text to the command line with no
- trouble at all. Well, a little trouble. I just got, on CDROM,
- an enormous database of phonetically transcribed English along with
- sound wave files and assorted additional stuff. All the text is
- filled with HEX 0A characters, which you can't see in normal mode,
- but which show up as little G's in boxes in NB expanded mode. They
- are apparently the equivalent of carriage returns (LIST treats them
- that way). I used CI, but couldn't type the character in on the
- command line. So I marked it and moved it uneventfully to the
- (sorry) action line, then did the change--no problem. ci \funny G\
- shift+alt+CR\ and it worked perfectly. On the other hand, typing in
- its ascii number (10, I think) gave a `not found' message. Go
- figure...
- On the other hand, my PC had a heart attack yesterday, and required
- a complete reformatting (fortunately the repair shop could back it
- up on tape first). Then the dishwasher died. And the remote control
- on the TV started turning the TV on at inopportune moments (3 AM, for
- example)... So maybe I'll stay away from electrical objects for a few
- days.
