- NEARLY 900 ALPHA AXP APPLICATIONS FROM 400 COMPANIES

- MAYNARD, Mass. -- December 14, 1992 -- Nearly 900 technical and
- commercial applications from 400 software development partners
- worldwide have been announced to date for the DEC OSF/1 for AXP,
- OpenVMS AXP, and Microsoft Windows NT operating environments on
- Alpha AXP systems.
- Among the applications are:

- o PowerHouse from Cognos, Inc.
- o Focus from Information Builders, Inc.
- o ANVIL-5000 from Manufacturing and Consulting Services
- o ORACLE6 and ORACLE7 from Oracle Corp.
- o System/36 Migration Tools from The Parkside Organization
- o the Sybase System from Sybase, Inc., and
- o the Unidata RDBMS from Unidata, Inc.

- "Of these 900 announced applications, more than 400 will be
- available for shipment by March, 1993 -- within a few months of
- Digital's shipment of a completely new, 64-bit RISC computing
- platform," said Marion Dancy, director of the Alpha AXP Applications
- Program. "This is convincing proof that Digital has the right
- solutions available to meet customer needs and help them succeed.
- And, this is just the beginning of the Alpha AXP applications
- roll-out."
- This first wave of applications is part of the more than 2,000
- applications from over 1,000 software development partners who
- already have committed to port to Alpha AXP systems.
- Alpha AXP computing includes a complete set of systems,
- software, applications, services, and new business practices that
- provide a universal platform enabling unlimited open computing
- possibilities. In November, Digital introduced a family of AXP
- systems, ranging from a workstation priced under $15,000 to a
- mainframe-class server priced at $316,000. Seventy-five
- applications are available for shipment immediately.
