  12. I have a Research Computing BC Order Form in front of me which quotes the
  13. following rates:

  15. 1. Developer Package for DECmpp 12000
  16.    - forty hours processing time
  17.    - ten megabytes permanent disk storage
  18.    - two hours technical consulting at BC Systems
  19.    - user id valid for six months
  20.    - $1,500 (plus GST) per package
  21.  
  22. 2. Resource Billing (12000):
  23.    - processing time on DECmpp 12000 at $100 per hour
  24.  
  25. 3. Resource Billing (9000):
  26.    - VAX 9420 Vector Processor at $120 per CPU hour
  27.  
  28. 4. Disk Storage:
  29.    - $0.10 per megabyte per day
  30.  
  31. NOTE:  With the exception of Disk Storage, the following discounts apply:
  32.        - 66 2/3 % for services provided on or before December 31, 1992
  33.        - 33 1/3 % for services provided between January 1, 1993 and June 30, 1993

  35. From the presentation that I attended at the beginning of this month, I got the 
  36. impression that anyone could purchase time on the system.  If I remember
  37. correctly, there are several (4?) groups from UVic using the DECmpp 12000, one
  38. group from UBC, and many other groups that I can't remember for a total of
  39. sixteen customers.  I do remember there is one group that is a commercial shop.

  41. Access to the DECmpp 12000 is available via DNET, BCnet, and Internet to the 
  42. DECstation 500 front end with the following development tools available 
  43. (as listed on an information sheet):

  45.   - MPL parallel extension of C
  46.   - MPF parallel FORTRAN based on FORTRAN 90
  47.   - MPPE debugger for MPL and MPF
  48.   - Ultrix operating system
  49.   - Motif graphical user interface
  50.   - image, math, and graphics libraries
