  13. I did receive ECOs for SMTP (-01), LPD (-02), FTP (-01), and PING;
  14. both LPD and SMTP seem to be basically stable with these patches.

  16. I immediately retracted the "new" UCX$FTP.EXE, because its user interface 
  17. has completely changed, without any accompanying documentation -
  18. also I noticed, playing with the new command qualifiers, that end of /INPUT 
  19. makes it either crash or loop.

  21. However, maybe someone can comment on the following points:
  22.  
  23. LPD Question:
  24.     What "control file" entries are relevant to the LPD server?
  25.     I only know that "-C" goes into /NOTE, as does the sender's hostname;
  26.     there appears to be some way to influence /PARAMETERS (the ECO-02 
  27.     release notes mention a fix in that area). Any way to influence 
  28.     /FORM and /SETUP? How could one "serve" more than e.g. one /FORM 
  29.     per printer to the unix world?

  31. genaral Question:
  32.     What is the significance of UCX$INET_DOMAIN (if at all)?
  33.     I know what UCX$BIND_DOMAIN means, and have no idea what 
  34.     *other* kind of "domain" has come into play here.
  35.     BTW, I see *no* problem with SMTP, although I have INET_DOMAIN 
  36.     equal to BIND_DOMAIN, and also a fully qualified INET_HOST.

  38. SMTP question: 
  39.     What does /RELAY exactly mean? I find that DECnet/SMTP relaying
  40.     handles addresses (rather unwieldy style)
  41.         "node::user"@ucx_host
  42.     in both directions - is there any more to it? I couldn't get
  43.     SMTP source routing (<@ucx_host:user@otherhost>) to work, 
  44.     although it seems to behave a little different depending on /RELAY.

  46. apparent SMTP bug:
  47.     As of ECO1, there is some strange interaction between /SUBSTITUTE
  48.     and /RELAY. Without /RELAY:
  49.      /subs=(name=...,hidden) ......    "From:" and "Return-Path:" modified
  50.      /subs=(name=...,NOhidden) ....    "Reply-To:" added, headers unmodified
  51.     With /RELAY, both 'hidden' and 'NOhidden' give the latter effect.
  52.     What of those is expected behaviour? (I can't guess it from the doc.)

  54. SMTP quirk:
  55.     Mail delivered by SMTP into VMSMAIL has a trailing <CR> on all of its
  56.     SMTP header lines (not a pretty view when you READ/EDIT that Mail).
  57.     Also, the UCX-provided "Received:" header is lacking a ";" preceding
  58.     the date - admittedly that's nit-picking.
