  19. They do indeed come under the act, our Computer Science department here
  20. had to withdraw their _public_ 'showme' system as it contravened the DP
  21. Acts rules that you shouldn't store data that revealed peoples ethnic
  22. background.

  24. The keywork is that if it is open to all then it is illegal. However if
  25. it is controlled (only specific registered users can access it) then it
  26. is legal.

  28. The implication here is that the xfaces archive is also illegal in the UK.
