- I see ads in papers for "reconnections", with companies offering "free
- reconnections" or "we pay you xxx pounds to reconnect your mobile phone
- regardless of history, yes, regardles....."
-
- What exactly is a "reconnection" ?? I figure these companies take
- cellphones from people who didn't pay their cellphone bills, and give
- them back to the owners, re-enabled, as long as the owners sign a direct
- debit or something like that. Is that about right ?
-
- These ads are obviously very shady. What exactly is the scam here ?
- Clearly if they "pay you to reconnect your phone", they have some way
- of stealing the money back. But if I'm right and they just want a direct
- debit, well, what's the point of a direct debit on a bank account of
- someone who has already proved himself a deadbeat ?
-
- What is the scam they use to reconnect banned phones to the networks ?
- Do they change the id chips or something ?
