  12. Just let me add a little remark as to the translation problem:

  14. The German word "Vernichtung" clearly means "total destruction".
  15. "Judentum" in German has two meanings:
  16. a) Judaism as a religious, cultural and historical phenomenon,
  17. b) Jewry (and in this context, neither the orthodox nor any other
  18.    interpretation of Judaism defined who was Jewish, but the Nazis
  19.    did).
  20. The Nazis meant the complete destruction/annihilation of European
  21. Jewry, but the *ideological* aim they wanted to achieve by this
  22. was to wipe out Judaism all together.
