- I don't think that there are "things" independent of events, and I
- think that physics bears this out to some extent. I think that
- "events" are themselves entities and "things" are made up of them.

- which reveals how it is that they fail to have causes. "Things"
- certainly do exist; they both cause and are caused. But they are made
- up of events; they are not a substratum for events which can provide a
- new kind of causality.
