  43. Well, your mileage may vary, as they say.  All of the successful
  44. long term relationships that I've had with men have been with
  45. men whose fathers were either absent (dead, divorced) or their
  46. influence was negligible.  It's occurred to me that part of what
  47. is right with these men is that they don't have bad patterns of
  48. male-female behaviour especially related to the role of men and women
  49. in the family to overcome.

  51. My husband, whose father died when he was very young, is quite
  52. comfortable with the idea of women being in positions of authority.
  53. He doesn't have a problem with having female bosses and we don't
  54. have those kind of "men do this, women do this" conflicts that I
  55. see in a lot of people.  Since you didn't ask, he is also a very
  56. good father.

  58. Maybe  you should actually say what you mean instead of making a
  59. broad category of single parent families.  Do you mean parents who
  60. were never married? Do you mean poor people? Do you mean drug abusers,
  61. or irresponsible parents?  People without spouses don't have a monopoly
  62. on those attributes.    The little monsters next door to me have 2
  63. married parents and it hasn't improved their mouths any or their respect
  64. for other people's property.
