  32.    I realize this, but my point is that the small boost given to the minority 
  33.    candidate does not cause a *less qualified* candidate to be hired. It 
  34.    merely makes it a tad more likely that, given two equivalently qualified 
  35.    candidates, the one who is a member of a minority group will be hired.

  37. Okay, I see what you're saying ...but one can't be surprized then that
  38. after being in a system that *claims* that the precise numerical score
  39. is the sole criterion, people who find themselves at a numerical
  40. disadvantage because of some other criterion resent the hell out of it.
