- I haven't yet read the aforementioned interview, but I have read quite
- a bit of Kramer's other writings. Based on that, here's my $.02. I
- think the point which Stoddard makes and Ron echoes is valid up to a
- point. Many times the message *can* get lost in the way it is
- communicated. However, many people say the exact same thing about
- QN and ACT UP. My personal view is that it is incorrect to say that
- *no one* listens to Kramer (or QN or ACT UP). I know that I certainly
- pay attention to their messages. Oftentimes I've found that their
- urgency can move someone like me out of complacency and get me to
- *do something*. I can take their messages and perhaps make them more
- palatable to the masses. I might not even have gotten the messages
- if I had not paid attention to Kramer or ACT UP or QN. So my view
- is that it is important to listen, and, as they say in 12-step meetings,
- "Take what you like and leave the rest." Take the facts and the
- urgency; leave behind the things that alienate potential allies.
-
- All my personal opinions. Hoping not to be flamed to death!
