  23. There's an old saying: "Two Jews, three opinions". But as far as
  24. traditional Talmudic/Pharisaic Judaism goes, we believe in both
  25. "heaven" (a nice place for dead people) and life after death, for
  26. both Jews and goyim. We don't believe in eternal punishment (i.e.
  27. Hell); the worst that can happen is you would be extinguished,
  28. ceasing to exist after death (which only happens for the
  29. absolutely, irredeemably evil).  We believe in "purgatory" (a
  30. temporary punishment after death), in a place generally known as
  31. "Gehinnom" (i.e. "New Jersey" (ob.  flamebait)). We keep an open
  32. mind about reincarnation. All of the above subject to
  33. qualifications, of course. To hear all of the above disputed,
  34. tune in to soc.culture.jewish.
