- There's an old saying: "Two Jews, three opinions". But as far as
- traditional Talmudic/Pharisaic Judaism goes, we believe in both
- "heaven" (a nice place for dead people) and life after death, for
- both Jews and goyim. We don't believe in eternal punishment (i.e.
- Hell); the worst that can happen is you would be extinguished,
- ceasing to exist after death (which only happens for the
- absolutely, irredeemably evil). We believe in "purgatory" (a
- temporary punishment after death), in a place generally known as
- "Gehinnom" (i.e. "New Jersey" (ob. flamebait)). We keep an open
- mind about reincarnation. All of the above subject to
- qualifications, of course. To hear all of the above disputed,
- tune in to soc.culture.jewish.
