  19.     Re: "that look" has it ever been 'unpopular'?  For all
  20. intents and purposes "right now" could be from Classical Greece
  21. to the present. (though there are some nice exmaples of homoursoerotica
  22. in painted pottery of that time as well...)

  24.     Without sounding whiny, esp. since everyone's heard the litany
  25. before, it would be just nice to be represented witohut coming across
  26. as some kind of fetish.

  28.     It'snot that I have anything against smooth/muscle guys like
  29. Marky or those who have walked the path before him...  it's the 
  30. unspoken assumption that the one archetype speaks for all.
  31. Fudge ripple is a great flavor of ice cream, but sometimes the tutti frutti

  34.     And to get off the bears thing - we can easily phrase it
  35. in other ways!  Look at the struggle ethnic minorites have had
  36. getting into modeling, or in this context gay porn/objectification.
  37. Unless someone is trying to get "racially balanced" forget it.
  38. Given the percentage of Asian and Hispanic people in the US,
  39. the percentage of objectifiable models is woefully disproportionate.

  41.     A lot of the often-neglected groups of the GBLO*-population
  42. are only now, 20-25 years after Stonewall starting to claim their place.
  43. While there is a lot of internal support for these people (e.g.
  44. ethnic minorites, womyn, GBLO*-folx under 21, handicapped GBLO*-folx,
  45. older GBLO*-people, people in interracial relaitonships, people in
  46. intergenerational relationships, bears, faeries, etc.) a lot of
  47. recognition comes in the form of visible iconery.  And until that
  48. starts to happen in a more accpeting mode instead of the "oh,
  49. let's show how diverse we are by adding one of them in there too",
  50. sort of thing there's going to be friction,
  51. not out of hatred, but mostly frustration.
