- Romer was very careful in what he said about Amendment #2. First, he said that
- he thought the amemdment was Unconstitutional because of the 14th Amendment to
- the U.S. Constitution. Second, he said that he thought that discrimination on
- the basis of sexual orientation was wrong and he would not allow that kind of
- discrimination in his employ (Romer is, in effect, CEO of a 50,000 employee
- organization, State of Colorado government). Last, he said that he was swarn
- to uphold the constitution of the State of Colorado, and therefore, he legally
- had to abide by the letter of the law. I don't recall him ever saying he would
- do anything to cause Amendment #2 to be overturned -- and I was at the events
- at which he spoke. Who knows what sound bite the TV news took out of context.
