  30. I'm used to the form "chthonian" (as much as one is ever used to words
  31. like this), meaning "infernal" or "demonic". Maybe "self-demonizing"
  32. would be a more reasonable gloss, although that doesn't sound right
  33. either. Well, at any rate we have our definition. Anyone care to quote
  34. the OED definition for us?
