- From dickwin@sequent.com (Dick Winningstad)
-
- I would like to thank everyone for the replies sent to me about the
- Israeli problem of rocket launches from Lebanon.
- I was asking why radar was not used to locate the launching site and
- then shell the spot.
-
- I was informed:
- 1. The radar used to locate the site of artillery bases from
- analyzing the trajectory of the shell is a lot more common than I had
- supposed.
-
- 2. With rockets, it is much more difficult to find the launch site
- from trajectory analysis because of questions of burn time of the
- rocket.
-
- 3. Responses would be difficult anyway because the ability to
- "shoot and scoot" is much easier for a rocket launcher compared to
- artillery.
-
- Again thanks to everyone for their replies.
