- POTEMKIN was a battleship. This makes her a "major capital ship" and
- thus important to the Tsarist navy, as all battleships were to all
- navies at that time.

- The mutiny occurred after the end of the Russo-Japanese War. There was
- major discontent in the navy WRT the incopetent leadership, which was
- blamed for the decisive Russian defeat at Tsushima. The actual incident
- whick sparked the mutiny in POTEMKIN and a destroyer was a delivery of
- spoiled meat to the ships. I guess this was still more evidence of the
- corruption of the Tsarist government.

- precursor to the October Revolution of 1917.
