- : This is where a splitter behind the blade can also come in handy.
- : Mine holds the work firmly against the fence without need for a second
- : featherboard. And in cases where I do want the extra security of a second
- : featherboard regardless, the splitter fills the kerf and prevents the cutoff
- : strip from binding against the blade.
-
- That is fine - if you always use the same blade - or blades that are all the
- same width and same offset from the arbor hub. Otherwise, you have to adjust
- the splitter carefully, every time you change the blade.
-
- : Splitters can be very useful and enhance safety. As for the stock
- : splitter/guard/grippers.. rubbish. I got a splitter for the INCA 250
- : (small 10" tablesaw) and bolted it onto my generic contractor's saw.
- : It doesn't go up/down with the blade, but is easy to install/remove
- : and works very well.
-
- I agree that the stock splitters and guards are generally very poor.
- I am currently looking for a good aftermarket guard - preferably one
- that is transparent.
