- I was told that by having the uni and the base have different axes,
- the base is less likely to loosen up after repeated jibes/tacks in
- the unscrewing direction. I have an old O'Brien base in which the
- male stud of the uni also serves as the mounting bolt and this base
- is forever unscrewing itself. All my other bases have offsets and
- don't have this unscrewing problem.
