- if you actually look at the proposed digital HDTV systems, many of them
- have *less* resolution that the Japanese 1125/60 analog system.

- Uh, Where are you getting the figure of 2400 from? Are you, by chance,
- using the 80 lines per MHz rule of thumb? The "magic number" 80 has
- the horizontal sweep rate, horizontal blanking time, and even the aspect
- ratio of NTSC built into it. None of them apply to any HDTV system.
- As a first approximation, the horizontal sweep is about twice as fast,
- so you need to reduce the number to about 40. The aspect ratio is
- also different, reducing the magic number still further.
