- I think there are two major reasons. 1) Generally speaking, there simply
- aren't many major ski areas located close to areas with a high black
- population, so there is less liklihood that an opportunity to learn to ski
- will present itself; 2) Skiing is a very expensive sport, and poverty is a
- serious problem in the black populace. If adequate food and housing is
- something you have to worry about, skiing is probably the last thing on
- your mind.

- I realize there are exceptions to both cases, and that as society becomes
- more homogeneous both demographically and financially that the skiing
- populace will also become more homogeneous.
