  25. Thanks Joe. Your account caused me to recall the early 1950's when my mother would 
  26. take me with her into NYC from Morgan, NJ  (On the banks of the Cheesequake Creek)
  27. via the following adventurous route:  CNJ passenger train from Morgan (Yes, Morgan
  28. had a passenger shed) to Perth Amboy, then a vigorous (My Mother was aerobic
  29. before aerobic was in vogue) walk down to the Tottenville ferry. (We took the bus
  30. when it rained since the trolleys were discontinued on Smith Street)  I still recall
  31. the guys who used to play and sing aboard the ferry on the short ride to
  32. Tottenville.  Then the Rat Trap (SI Rapid Transit) ride to St. George (Best part of
  33. that ride was looking out the front of the car at signals, etc.).  NYC ferry to
  34. South Ferry (Battery Park).  IRT subway up 7th Avenue to Macy's.   A couple of
  35. hours of shopping and then the reverse process.  It's been over forty years since
  36. those days :-<, I wonder if the current generation of kids will have similar
  37. recollections of trips to "the mall"?  Oh yes, lest I forget; when we were
  38. particularly flush, we'd take the train ALL THE WAY to Liberty Street terminal in
  39. Jersey City.
