- The CP Dayliners that ran between Calgary and Edmonton and between Calgary and
- Lethbridge in the 1960s had metal grates ove the cab-end windows. I assume that
- VIA simply continued running those Dayliners.

- The 1960s were a more innocent time. There were not many incidents of people
- deliberately trying to kill or maim railway workers in the Canadian prairie.
- However, there were a lot of unprotected level crossings on the Calgary-Edmonton
- line especially and the folks living near the line took a long time to find
- out that it was hard to beat that Dayliner to the crossing.
