- OLD TOPO MAPS
-
- Our library is a U.S. Superintendent of Documents
- Depository. The rules of the game say that outdated
- USGS topos are supposed to be disposed of when a new
- edition is issued. So older topos are rare, at least
- at depository libraries. Of course, there is nothing
- I know of to prevent these older maps from being
- placed in a non-depository collection. For example,
- I found many old maps available at the California
- room in the State Library in Sacramento last year.
-
- I would be certain that the most topos ever issued are
- in the Library of Congress or the National Archives,
- or both. Of course, you have to go to Washington to
- use them....
