- I took an older 285 (non HV) apart and found that the jack was straight 6vdc.
- I replaced the jack with a RCA panel jack. I then built a "quantum" like box,
- also with same plug, charging light, fuse and switch. Inside I put a 6ah "gell"
- lead acid cell. BE VERY CAREFUL OPENING FLASH UNITS. THE CAP CAN STORE
- 300-500 VOLTS. EVEN AFTER FLASH IS DISCHARGED, THE CAP MAY STILL HAVE SOME
- RESIDUAL CHARGE.
