  21. Not strictly correct:

  23. Among the manual-focus Canon SLRs, you *can* use later lenses with
  24. earlier bodies.  Pre-FD bodies can't meter wide-open, but otherwise
  25. work just fine (just as though they were working with FL lenses).

  27. I believe that R-series bodies can use FL and FD lenses in manual-only
  28. mode...but that's how the R-series lenses worked, too.

  30. FD and earlier bodies won't accept EF lenses, but that's the way it
  31. goes.  I believe the choice to go to the new mount will turn out to
  32. have been the right way to go in the long term; staying compatible
  33. with the FD mount would have been more costly in the long term.

  35. (For the majority of potential users, it's a non-issue: most sales of
  36. new cameras come from either new users, who have no investment in any
  37. previous system, or users switching from some other manufacturer's
  38. line.  We may be more noisy individually, but we are a financial minority

  42. line, as do Minolta post-Maxxum.
