  25. Agreed.  We adopted a kitten from the animal shelter, and my husband
  26. at the time said that if anything happened to her that would require
  27. great medical expense, then we would put her to sleep and get another
  28. one.  Its not that I don't love my kitten, and its not that I think
  29. one cat is the same as another, but it is that we owe thousands
  30. of dollars to credit card companies, in addition to owing the people
  31. hospital $600 for ER visits.  If my cat broke her hip, we would have
  32. to let it go or put her down as well.

  34. I wish I had the money to spend al I wanted, not only on the cat,
  35. but on myself as well. And the cat doesn't get 33 cent cans when
  36. we have difficulty feeding ourselves because money is tight.  I
  37. am not mad and not trying to flame, but other people telling me
  38. how to spend money that doesn't exist kind of irks me.  This
  39. actually reminds me (not on the subject of cats) of a recent
  40. episode in my life.  My husband was on the phone complaining to
  41. his mother about what a mess the car was in, so she had her
  42. husband make an appointment to have someone look at the car.
  43. Well, naturally, we thought they were offering to take care
  44. of the cost for us, but that wasn't the case.  they just
  45. made an appointment to get the car looked at us, expecting us
  46. to pay for it, because they seemed to think that the motivating
  47. factor behind not getting the car fixed was that we were too
  48. stupid to know to take a car to a mechanic, not that we knew
  49. we couldn't afford it! Grrrrrrrr.....  I wonder about people
  50. sometimes.
