- This whole discussion has missed an important point of the EK law. It is
- not a rule, but a guideline, and in that context makes perfect sense. The law
- does not say that a group _must_ hold an event; it says that they will be
- assumed to be active if they hold an event.
- This is a fair assumption. Running an event is not something that can be
- done by one person (I know, I've tried :-) If a group is capable of holding an
- event they clearly have a certain level of both material resources and human
- involvement.
- If a group is not holding an event but is still active, they will have no
- trouble as long as they demonstrate in some other way that they are a viable
- group.
- While this still makes an assumption--that holding an event is proof of
- viability--it is hardly based on the sweeping assumptions that have been
- discussed here.
