- I sincerely apologize to the readers of this group for including such overt
- hostility in my post. This is a thoroughly unworthy way in which to
- discuss issues of theology and faith. I am sorry.
-
- I will, however, continue to oppose in the strongest possible terms the
- theological oversimplifications and distortions of Christian
- fundamentalists and their kin, whose ideas on the subjects of nudity and
- human sexuality are at best clumsy and heavy-handed, and whose approach to
- life in general is the most complete denial of our God-given humanity that
- I can possibly imagine -- it is thoroughly oppressive and utterly
- dehumanizing. Fortunately for those who manage to survive the ravages of
- this destructive ideology, there are positive alternatives.
-
- But to survive, you must be willing to face the way things actually are
- instead of the way everyone tells you they are "supposed to be"; you must
- do your own thinking and resist the enormous social pressure to conform to
- the pre-conceived, impersonal group norm; and -- most difficult of all --
- you must find the courage to remove yourself from a manipulative and
- damaging environment. The blesssings of life and of faith await those who
- have the courage to change!
