- As I understand it, the PD is not a "beefed-up" R100GS. They share a common
- frame and suspension. BMW took the nearly perfect GS and made numerous truly
- beautiful changes. First they got rid of that silly toy tank and put on a
- real serious tank. Don't use the magnetically attached tank bag, it is made of
- rotary cast polymer. Then they got rid of that sissy seat and put a real
- comfy saddle. Next they bagged the idea of a rear seat and put a luggage rack
- with a bizillion places to attach bungie cords. A nice final couple of
- touches are the front fender that comes apart in at least three different ways
- if you're so inclined, installed _heated_ grips for those who can't bear to
- think of letting go of a hot cup of java on a cold day, and wind breakers for
- each grip. The crowning touch was the magnificent black and green paint job.

- The engine has been around since '23 and the stock tires suck, but what the
- hell.
-
- Speaking of tires, I am using the Pirelli MT-60 and am satisfied. Sorta. I've
- heard rumors that both Dunlop and Michelin have new radial off-road tires
- for the GS/PD's. Anyone have any clue about these new tires?
